A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who found, read, commented, followed, subscribed to RPM: Jonathan Perry’s Life In Analog; and/or sought out previously un-discovered artists, bands, films, records, and music (or, even better, more of my writing here and elsewhere) during this past year. As fond as I tend to be of the royal “we,” daily maintenance of this cyber record room-music fan cave-hi fi wing-listening station-pop culture archive is really a modest one-man operation, with me as chief cook and bottle washer, doing the dishes and cueing up the turntable in between being given orders by my three-year-old daughter (a Zep, Stones, and Beatles fan by the way). So I truly appreciate all the attention, feedback, support, constructive criticism (some of it anyway, ha!), and encouragement you’ve given me since we, er, I carved out this cozy (and hopefully entertaining, and even occasionally inspiring) little corner of the universe in the summer of 2013. Like the overstuffed record room that represents what occupies most of the inside of my head, RPM’s collection of pieces, visitors, and readers continues to grow at a healthy clip. So here’s a toast to 2014, and the best of everything to everyone for a Happy New Year!
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 16,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
Jonathan,
Thanks for this entertaining, incisive, and engagingly written blog. RPM: Life in Analog is a delicious verbal, visual, and sonic continuum of your past reviews and deep dives into the work of a broad range of artists and your ongoing fascinations. Insightful and inspiring!
